Undergrad Dream Journal

I kept a dream journal as an undergrad at BYU one summer. As a film studies major, I thought that I could mine my dreams for fantastic ideas to incorporate into short stories and movies. Also, being a part-time security guard, I worked an erratic schedule that paired graveyard shifts with day shifts and so I was always getting woken up mid REM sleep, which helped me remember some bizarre details. As you can tell from the following entry, the experiment wasn't entirely successful. For posterity...

Entry dated 7/23/02

Why did Levar Burton pay my house in Sandy a visit? I dunno, but he was very well-received and very professional. I bid him farewell then he shook my hand and left. He wasn't as tall as I expected him to be.

Movember or "Excuse me sir, but you have dirt on your chin."
Can I get a "hey nonny, nonny?"

We went home to Utah for Thanksgiving and I thought I'd surprise everyone with my facial hair. Much to my chagrin, both Patrick and Jon had me bested with superior growth. I think I won in the "creepiest" category...or at least "itchiest." Until next year?...

Nature: Up Close and Personal
Early Last Month
That's me alone in the tent surrounded by moose.
I could hear them all night long and tried to be as still as I could.

Thanks to my mom for noticing I was trapped.
The sound of the calves nursing was thunderous two feet away.
And thanks to Matt for gently making them leave and for the great photos.
I was sure nobody would believe me without photographic evidence.

The original plan was to have the girls sleep out with glad they stayed inside the cabin.
